Welcome to the Official Website of the Children of Zimbabwe Liberation War Veterans Association (CZLWVA)
It is with profound honour, humility and an unwavering sense of duty that I welcome you to the official website of the Children of Zimbabwe Liberation War Veterans Association (CZLWVA).
The National Executive Council, elected at the Victoria Falls National Congress in February 2025, was entrusted with a five-year mandate that shall run until 2030. We accepted this responsibility with a clear understanding that leadership is not about privilege, but about service. It is a sacred obligation to protect the welfare of our members, preserve the legacy of Zimbabwe's liberation struggle, and create sustainable opportunities for present and future generations.
The Children of Zimbabwe Liberation War Veterans Association is the official national welfare and empowerment organisation representing the children and dependants of Zimbabwe's Liberation War Veterans. Established under its Constitution, the Association exists to legally defend and promote the moral, spiritual and material interests of liberation war veterans and their families, while advancing the socio-economic empowerment of their children and dependants through organised advocacy, innovation, partnerships and sustainable development.
Our struggle today is different from that of our parents, but our mission remains the same—to safeguard the gains of independence while ensuring that the descendants of those who fought for Zimbabwe enjoy dignity, opportunity and economic prosperity. We are therefore committed to preserving the ideals of the liberation struggle, promoting patriotism, national unity and peace, while contributing meaningfully to Zimbabwe's development in line with Vision 2030.
Our vision is to build a united, empowered and self-sustaining community of the children of Zimbabwe Liberation War Veterans, contributing meaningfully to national development while preserving the heritage and values of the liberation struggle.
Our mission is to promote welfare, advocate for economic emancipation, expand educational opportunities, create employment pathways, preserve liberation history, strengthen national unity, and empower our members through technology, innovation, entrepreneurship and sustainable development.
Everything we do is guided by our enduring values of Unity, Welfare, Patriotism, Integrity, Accountability, Discipline, Service and Respect for our Liberation Heritage.
Since assuming office, the National Executive Council has focused on laying a strong institutional foundation upon which future generations can build. We have transformed the Association into a professionally administered national organisation with functional offices, strengthened governance systems, a modern constitutional framework, improved administrative structures and enhanced engagement with Government, development partners and other strategic stakeholders.
We are particularly proud that the Association has moved beyond advocacy into practical empowerment. Significant financial resources have been mobilised to establish sustainable empowerment programmes, collateral-free financing initiatives and revolving development funds that will support entrepreneurship, productive investments and income-generating projects for our members across Zimbabwe.
Economic empowerment remains at the heart of our agenda. Our vision is not merely to create beneficiaries, but to develop entrepreneurs, professionals, innovators, farmers, industrialists, business leaders and employers who will contribute to Zimbabwe's economic transformation while uplifting their own communities.
Employment creation continues to be one of our foremost priorities. Through continuous engagement with Government ministries, departments, agencies and strategic stakeholders, the Association continues to facilitate access to employment opportunities across various sectors while advocating for fair representation of children and dependants of liberation war veterans in national recruitment, promotions and professional development. We remain committed to the full implementation and institutionalisation of the one-quarter (¼) recruitment quota system, ensuring equitable access to employment opportunities consistent with the sacrifices made by our parents during the liberation struggle.
Education remains one of the greatest investments we can make in our future. We continue to advocate for expanded scholarships, bursaries, vocational training, postgraduate support, digital skills development and access to quality education without discrimination. We believe that every child of a liberation war veteran deserves an equal opportunity to realise their full potential.
Beyond employment and education, the Association is actively promoting participation in agriculture, mining, manufacturing, environmental conservation, tourism, science, technology, innovation, business development and emerging industries. Our objective is to build a generation that is economically productive, technologically advanced and financially independent.
Equally important is the welfare of our members. We remain committed to strengthening social protection programmes, emergency assistance, health support, educational assistance, bereavement support, psychosocial services and community development initiatives that improve the quality of life of our members and their families. Welfare is not an event—it is the foundation upon which dignity, unity and empowerment are built.
We also recognise that the preservation of Zimbabwe's liberation history is a national responsibility. The sacrifices made by our parents must never be forgotten. Through educational programmes, heritage preservation, research, documentation and national commemorations, we are committed to ensuring that future generations understand, appreciate and defend the values upon which our nation was founded.
As we move towards 2030, our priorities remain clear:
These objectives cannot be achieved by the National Executive Council alone. They require unity of purpose, active participation and collective responsibility from every member of our Association. Together, we possess the skills, experience, knowledge and determination to build one of the strongest welfare and empowerment organisations in Zimbabwe.
I therefore call upon every child and dependant of Zimbabwe's Liberation War Veterans to actively participate in the work of our Association. Let us remain united, disciplined and patriotic as we honour the legacy of our parents by building prosperous families, resilient communities and a stronger Zimbabwe.
On behalf of the National Executive Council, I extend my sincere gratitude to our members, Government, strategic partners, stakeholders and all those who continue to support the vision and mission of the Children of Zimbabwe Liberation War Veterans Association.
Together, we shall preserve the legacy of our liberation heroes.
Together, we shall advance the welfare of our members.
Together, we shall create opportunities for future generations.
Together, we shall build a united, empowered and self-sustaining community that proudly contributes to the continued development and prosperity of the Republic of Zimbabwe.
Unity. Welfare. Patriotism.
